| "Peter John Leech was born in Dublin and enlisted in the RE
at the time of the Crimean War (1854-156). After training on the
Ordnance Survey, he served with the International Commission on
the Russian Turkish frontier.
He was part of Captain Parson's initial group of RE and served
the duration of his time in the Colony as "Astronomical
observer and Computer". He spent the majority of his time at
the RE Observatory established in the Camp."
