28th April 1859

From the Journal of Lt. Lempriere, RE, in the RE Camp.

28th Thursday – Accompanied Col. Moody on the tour of Queensborough alias "The Stump City"  – The idea of a place covered with timber and brushwood, so that it is next to impossible to make your way through it, becoming at some future time a commercial city seems almost absurd.

Note: 2004 - Population of New Westminster: 550,000.
