Sir,

At the Land Sale which took place here on 5th and 6th October last, Sapper Robert Hume RE, purchased Suburban Lot 9 Block 4 New Westminster District.

In consequence of his having lost or mislaid the Certificate, I have the honor to request that you will not receive any monies for the said Lot excepting through me.

Note: Gosset was functioning as the Treasurer of the Colony at this time.  Any and all land sales would eventually have to go through his Office and Moody appears to be attempting to head off any trouble by putting the issue in writing.

The tensions and troubles between Gosset and Moody will not end until Gosset leaves the Colony.
