"Oh, I say, Johnny, do you remember the names of the fellows who assisted him (on the Thames City), thought they could act a bit?  I think some of the names were Sinnett, Turnbull, Benney, Franklin, Derham, Eaton, Alliott, Hazel (Matilda), Launders, Mead, and Dick Wolfenden.  Dick sometimes used to take a lady's part.

"Oh, yes, Hughie, fancy white-haired old Colonel Wolfenden, as we know him now, acting the part of 'Lydia' in 'Done on Both Sides.'  But they say he was then a nice, slim, modest young fellow, and that he was always a 'ladies' man. "

  • received Crown Grant, April 6, 1867 for Lot 39 group 2 New Westminster District, 150-acre military grant.
  • Gardener for The Moody Family in Camp.
  • In charge of the RE printing press.
  • 1863-1911, Superintendent, Government printing Office New Westminster and later Victoria.
  • 1864 - 1868 served in New Westminster Volunteer Rifles
  • 1874 - 1886 served in British Columbia Brigade Garisson Artillery (later the 5th Regiment).
  • Retired as Lieutent-Colonel.

Richard Wolfenden died October 5, 1911, at age 75, in Victoria, British Columba

His youngest daughter, Madge, retired as Assistant Provincial archivist, 1953.
